Sharing Good News of Great Joy: A Letter from Our President

Dear Friend,

The children we serve in Latin America and the Caribbean are suffering from the economic fallout of Covid in a very real way … Poverty has increased by 13% — extreme poverty has increased by 43%.

This is the population of students we are reaching together with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Many children we serve come from neighborhoods that suffer with extreme poverty.  Their day-to-day lives have gotten worse because the pandemic has caused an economic crisis in an already hurting and impoverished region.

But generous people like you are bringing light into the darkness.  They are sharing “good news of great joy” with children who desperately need it.  I’m so grateful — and so are students like Christian!

He stood proudly before the entire school during last year’s Christmas party and expressed his gratitude and joy to have been able to study for 12 years “in the beautiful Luz y Verdad (Light and Truth) School.”

Friends like you made it possible for Christian to experience 12 years of birthday gifts, Christmas celebrations, a Christian education — and during the pandemic, food for him and his family.

Christian penned the following:

“I am pleased to be able to write to you, so that I can personally express my gratitude that I have for you.  Your help makes all the difference — allowing kids to continue studying in the school — and enables us to know more about the Word of God.”

Help from friends like you means so much to vulnerable children.  And right now, we invite you to partner with us in making a unique impact in the lives of children in need … by remembering them this Christmas!

This year’s celebration will be extra joyful as we are able to gather together — in person — to celebrate the Good News of Great Joy that Jesus was born!

The majority of our schools will be able to return to the Christmas tradition of a wonderful party for all the students with …

  • Music.
  • Games.
  • Gifts.
  • Special food.
  • And of course, sharing the Christmas story.  Many children choose to dedicate their lives to Christ during this joyous time!

This fun and excitement are remembered all year long.  And the gifts — selected with the children’s needs and wishes in mind — are treasured!

Today I am asking you to be a part of the joy by helping provide the party and a gift for the children.

It takes just $20, on average, to provide the gift and celebration for each child.

Jesus is the most important Christmas gift — and we present Him to our children every day, and especially at Christmas.

Friends like you make it possible, sharing His love with children in need this holiday season.

For the children,

Mary Kathleen Mahon, Ph.D.

P.S. For many of the children we serve, the gift they receive at the party is the only gift they’ll receive this Christmas.  God bless you for bringing such joy to their lives during this special time of year.
