ChildHope Covid-19 Update

The ChildHope offices are closed through April 24 in response to the Covid-19 virus. However, we are working from home to be able to serve the children. Feel free to contact us at [email protected].

You are my hiding place and my shield, I put my hope in your word.
Psalm 119:114

The last few weeks have been a stressful time in Latin America and the Caribbean. Suddenly, Covid-19 was no longer a continent away. Country by country our region started seeing cases of the virus. The uncertainty and confusion brought our schools to times of prayer and “clamor” — crying out to God.

One director shared with me about her school. They had special times of prayer each day. On Friday the government decided to close schools for two weeks so teachers rushed to prepare educational materials for the children to take home. In the midst of troubling news about the virus, they ended the week with an extended time of prayer asking for God’s protection over their country and all the countries of the world. At the end one little boy, Luisito, stood up with great faith and declared “I know that God will protect us.” Then throwing the protocol of no-touching to the wind he ran to the director and gave her a big hug.

As in most of the world, our ChildHope schools are not having classes. To comply with government protocols, we have sent the children home to be with their families. But we have sent them home filled with great faith and hope — like Luisito they each know that God is their hiding place and their shield in these uncertain times.

The investment that you make through prayer and financial support combined with the ministry of the teachers who daily share the hope of Christ with these children are giving them peace in this time of uncertainty.  Where they are able, teachers continue to teach and minister to the children through social media.

Would you please join me in prayer for ChildHope during this crisis?

  • Pray for the safety and health of our students and their families.
  • Pray for the economic situation in the communities where we serve. They will be the hardest hit with the economic repercussions of the world wide crisis and the people are scared.
  • Pray that our ChildHope students would shine the light of Jesus and draw their family members to faith in God.

I have already heard testimonies of parents whose lives have been changed by listening to daily devotionals that teachers in ChildHope schools are sending to their students.

In challenging times like this we are so grateful for your consistent and generous giving. It allows us to provide stability for the ChildHope children and their communities. Thank you for your faithfulness!

We at ChildHope pray for you and your families. May God be your hiding place and shield in these days.
