Following the tragic story of deceit by the husband and wife team of Ananias and Sapphira, there is a clear testimony of regular miraculous events done in the public ministry of the apostles. This ministry attracts people from the entire region who need the transformative power of God.  
 
ChildHope has faced many daunting challenges in its decades of ministry. As we look back, we see the only explanation for our survival was the miraculous intervention of God. One of the most powerful moments in our history occurred over 30 years ago when a large donor suddenly cut off funding to ChildHope. Overnight, we lost several hundred thousand dollars of funding per month. Our immediate concern was how we would feed children and pay teacher’s salaries. We were fearful of parents’ reactions in those communities where we might have to close schools.     

As we look back on that moment, we are continually amazed that we did not have to close one school nor did any of our fears come to pass. Even more amazing is the fact that one year after the tragedy, our income had gone beyond what we ever had with the larger donor. God had provided us scores of new sponsors and people who believed in the work of ChildHope. We realized that people held us in “high esteem.” (v.13) And more than ever before (v.14) God was rallying people to the ministry of ChildHope that we had never even communicated with before. There is no explanation for the survival of ChildHope in those turbulent days, than the miraculous hand of God who cares for the children of Latin America and the Caribbean and will intervene on their behalf in moments where human efforts will never be enough.
