In our home, our family has always opened gifts on Christmas Eve. This year is special in that, for the first time in many years, all my children and grandchildren will be there. On this Christmas Eve, ChildHope is grateful for the gift of a new leader. As you remember, Phil and Lori Schmidt felt the Lord’s guidance to become pastors of a church in Alabama earlier this year. We have been praying for God’s direction on the choice of a new leader and are thrilled that Dr. Mary Kathleen Mahon has been appointed to serve as President and Executive Director of ChildHope.
Dr. Mahon is a veteran Assemblies of God missionary and has served with ChildHope for many years in Venezuela and Costa Rica. You can read more about her here. She has a passion for the children of Latin America and the Caribbean and I am thrilled she is our new president. She will lead us from her base in Costa Rica.
Recently, Dr. Mahon was in our offices in Springfield, Missouri to meet the staff. She told a wonderful story of a little boy named Julio whose life was deeply impacted by the story of Christmas. I think you will enjoy hearing that story on this Christmas Eve! It will fill you with gratitude for Christmas from an angle I’d venture you’ve never thought of before.
Feliz Navidad y Próspero Año Nuevo from ChildHope!
