2018 Easter Devotional — March 22

Genesis 17:1-8 (click to view Scripture below)

After many years of silence and at the old age of 99, God visited Abram. God told him, “I am the Almighty God, if you will walk before me faithfully and blameless, I will increase your numbers.” Abram fell face down in surrender to God and God changed his name from Abram to Abraham, meaning the father of many nations. Abraham was faithful to God and God fulfilled his promise.

Just like Abraham, we too are a part of God’s plan for all humanity. Ana, a director of one of our ChildHope schools in Panama, is a modern day Abraham. God is using her to transform the lives of many children because of her commitment of time, resources and inspirational leadership. Are we willing to do the same, to surrender our lives to God and allow him to work through us to bless many?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we believe that you want to make the same covenant with us as you made with Abraham. Help us to walk before you, wholeheartedly, so that you can use us to bless many nations.

Genesis 17:1-8 (ESV)

1When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless, that I may make my covenant between me and you, and may multiply you greatly.” Then Abram fell on his face. And God said to him, “Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make you into nations, and kings shall come from you. And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. And I will give to you and to your offspring after you the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God.”
